Each of the selected projects pursue their own objectives, while the NGI RIAs provide the programme logic and vision, technical support, coaching and mentoring, to ensure that projects contribute towards a significant advancement of research and innovation in the NGI initiative.<\/p>\n<p>The focus is on advanced concepts and technologies that link to relevant use cases and that can have an impact on the market and society over all. The fund provides practical and financial support to projects contributing to an open, resilient and trustworthy digital infrastructure, paving the way to permissionless innovation and user autonomy. We support free and open source projects across the whole technology spectrum, from libre chips to middleware without a vendor lock-in, from productivity tools to &#8216;local-first&#8217; infrastructure \u2014 and of course the end user applications needed to operate those networked services.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Between now and 2030 we will award small to medium-size R&amp;D grants between <\/span><b>5.000 and 50.000 euro<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 with the possibility to scale them up significantly if there is proven potential.
