Frankly, the Promoted Deal spots in our weekly and monthly sale newsletters are probably worth even more than a spot on The Shelf. And since they're included in the price, you get both!

Do I have to opt in to the Leanpub discounts to be a Promoted Deal in the newsletters?

We think it works better, but it's not required. If your book is not opted in to our discounts we will not make a coupon link, but we will still include a link to your book at its full price. This is fine, but we think it works better when it's a discount link!

Raf Nedir?

The Shelf is an advertising spot on our homepage and on the post-purchase Thank You pages, so it gets shown to everyone who buys something or who goes to our homepage.

Specifically, the Shelf is actually two things: a Featured Shelf and up to 6 Mini Shelves. Each Mini Shelf can hold up to 6 books. Since there is a maximum of 6 Mini Shelves, only 36 books can be on the Mini Shelves at a time. The Featured Shelf is a carousel which shows one Mini Shelf at a time, so it shows up to 6 books at a time.

So, if you buy a spot on The Shelf, your book will be on the Featured Shelf by default at a minimum of once every six days. If there are fewer than 7 books on Mini Shelves, it will be on the Featured Shelf every day. If there are between 7 and 12 books on Mini Shelves, it will be on the Featured Shelf every two days, etc.

The Featured Shelf shows up on our homepage on all resolutions. The Mini Shelves show up on our homepage on iPad and higher resolutions.

We fill up a shelf with 6 books before adding the next shelf. So, if there are 20 books on The Shelf, there will be 4 Mini Shelves, containing 6, 6, 6 and 2 books, respectively.

Note that the Featured Shelf is always on our homepage, on all resolutions of screen. The Mini Shelves are hidden when the homepage is displayed at smaller than iPad width.
