About Me

I'm Kenta Goto, a software engineer from Japan working deep in the AWS ecosystem, with a particular focus on the AWS CDK.

I've been selected as an AWS DevTools Hero, a recognition AWS gives to a small group of developers worldwide for their impact on improving the developer experience on AWS.

I'm an AWS CDK Top Contributor and a Trusted Community Reviewer, reviewing pull requests to the AWS CDK itself. Alongside that, I build open-source tools and construct libraries that fill the gaps the official tooling leaves behind, making the CDK ecosystem more powerful and convenient.

What I've Built

Dev Tools

  • cdkd: Drop-in CDK CLI for existing apps. Up to 15x faster deploys via direct AWS SDK calls instead of CloudFormation.
  • cdk-local: Run your CDK-built app locally, no deploy needed, even while it reaches the real AWS resources it depends on.
  • cdk-real-drift: Drift detection for CDK that sees what your template can't, including properties you never declared. Detect it, record it, or revert it.
  • delstack: Delete CloudFormation / CDK stacks, from routine cleanups to force-deleting stacks with undeletable resources.
  • cdk-agc: CDK Assembly Garbage Collector. Clean up unused assets in cdk.out, local Docker images, and temporary CDK directories.
  • cls3: A CLI to clear S3 buckets: empty all objects, versions, and delete-markers, or delete the buckets themselves.
  • lamver: Search AWS Lambda runtimes and versions across regions.
  • markgate: A verification-state cache for hook managers. Skip checks that already passed, catch the ones that never ran.

CDK Construct Libraries

CDK Explorations

  • cdk-gof-design-patterns: AWS CDK × GoF design patterns, with concrete code and class diagrams.
  • cdk-skills: A collection of Skills for AI coding agents to assist AWS CDK development.

Writing & Talks

Why Sponsor Me?

Building is the fun part. Keeping everything alive is the real work: fixing bugs, reviewing issues, answering questions, and updating tools every time AWS changes something under the hood. That maintenance is invisible, unpaid, and never-ending.

Your sponsorship directly buys me time to keep these tools healthy, support the people using them, and build the next idea in the open. Whether it's a one-time thank-you or a monthly boost, it genuinely helps, and it keeps this whole ecosystem of tools free for everyone.

Thank you for reading this, and for considering supporting my work!
