Cam curled up in the little corner of the orbiter's cockpit, half hiding under the desk. He draws his knees to his chest. Everything was so loud. Ordis was talking, but Cam covered his ears to block it out.
"Be quiet, Ordis," he snapped, then softer, "I just need quiet." Ordis went silent, but the lights dimmed as well.
Cam stayed in the corner from an indeterminate amount of time, trying to get his breathing under control and keep his head from pounding, until two of his kubrow came sniffing. The smaller of the two, tried to wiggle her way under the desk to comfort him, but the difference between a small kubrow and a young boy is enough that she can barely get her shoulders under the desk.
"Luciole..." Cam groaned, pulling himself up so he can pet her large head. Soleil tries to force his head under the desk too, jealous for affection.
"Ordis, did you let them out?" Cam asked sliding out of the corner so he could pet both hounds.
"Of course, Operator. The research I have collected suggests that physical contact with a pet may help with distress." Luciole was drooling happily over his knee as Cam scratched behind her ears.
Cam smiles softly to himself as he strokes the snouts of both his pets. He would be alright. His family would make sure of it.
