This page explains how I use AI while maintaining this website. My guiding principle is The Human Border: I use AI freely as a private tool, but the published form of anything that crosses into public is authored by me.

When I use AI, I generally choose whichever frontier model I consider best suited to the task, with high reasoning effort. The exact model changes over time.

Proofreading is done using Grammarly.

Log

For each entry in my monthly log, I use AI privately to turn that month’s journal entries into an initial draft. I use the following prompt:

Using every journal entry for [MONTH YEAR], draft a publicly shareable monthly log in Markdown.

Include things I created, made, did, published, visited, or learned, plus significant projects, major life events, and fitness achievements.

Omit or anonymize private details: partner or relationship names, employer names, salaries or contract values, private conversations, and non-public health issues. Major life events may be included when suitably anonymized.

Write in the first person using a single-level bullet list. Keep each item factual and self-contained, without editorializing that may age poorly. Add useful, verified links where possible, preferring my own relevant pages and neutral, non-paywalled sources. Use Markdown links and italics.

Return a draft for my review.

I decide what belongs, edit or rewrite the wording, and then edit, add, and verify the links before publishing. Any prose below the bullet list is written by me from scratch.

I enjoy the creative writing and thinking that come with maintaining this website. Since it is my happy place on the internet, I would not delegate that pleasant work to AI.

llms.txt is a compact, machine-readable guide to this website. I regenerate it periodically with AI assistance. It is intended for language models and agents, not human readers; the human-facing pages remain canonical.
